Turkish Game Localization

Turkish localization that reads naturally.

I’m Mustafa “Neekagami” Dinç. I work with independent game developers to bring their games to Turkish-speaking players while preserving tone, character voice, terminology, humor, cultural intent, and context.

My goal is not simply to translate words, but to make the Turkish version feel as intentional and natural as the original.

About

About My Localization Work

I focus on creating Turkish localization that feels natural in context rather than mechanically translated.

Games often depend on much more than literal meaning. Character personality, humor, terminology, interface limitations, recurring expressions, cultural references, and the relationship between dialogue and gameplay all affect how a translation should read.

My aim is to preserve the identity of the original game while making the Turkish text feel clear, consistent, and natural for Turkish-speaking players.

I am particularly interested in working with independent developers where communication between the developer and translator can help improve the final localization.

01

Natural Turkish

I prioritize natural Turkish phrasing and readability instead of rigid word-for-word translation.

02

Terminology Consistency

Recurring items, mechanics, locations, names, interface terms, and expressions should remain consistent throughout the game.

03

Tone & Character Voice

Dialogue should preserve the personality, emotional tone, humor, and intent of the original characters.

04

Context Review

When a playable or test build is available, I prefer reviewing translations in context so issues invisible in localization files can be identified.

Workflow

How I Work

A focused process designed to protect meaning, technical structure, and consistency from the first file review through in-game context.

  1. 01

    Files & Context

I review the localization structure, available context, terminology, technical notes, and any developer guidelines.

  2. 02

    Translation

The text is localized into natural Turkish while preserving keys, placeholders, formatting, variables, and other technical elements.

  3. 03

    Consistency Review

Recurring terminology, names, character voices, UI conventions, and related strings are reviewed for consistency.

  4. 04

    In-Game Review

When a test build is available, I review the localized text in context and identify issues such as truncation, incorrect context, awkward phrasing, or formatting problems.

I can adapt to the localization format and workflow preferred by the development team.

Narrative & Culture Matter

I am also open to dialogue-heavy, narrative-focused, visual novel, and culturally specific projects.

These projects often require additional attention to character voice, cultural references, subculture terminology, humor, relationships, honorific implications, and contextual meaning.

Rather than flattening those elements into generic Turkish, my goal is to understand the intended effect of the original and find the most appropriate Turkish localization for that context.

Verification

Participation You Can Verify

Transparency is important when presenting localization work.

The evidence shown in this portfolio comes from the respective projects' original credit screens, localization acknowledgements, or participation acknowledgements and is presented as evidence of my involvement.

The official Steam links identify the games and provide access to their store pages. The project-specific credit or acknowledgement material is what demonstrates my credited participation.

Evidence types may differ between projects, so each item is labeled according to what the original source actually shows.

Collaboration

Considering Turkish Localization?

If you are developing a game and considering Turkish language support, I would be happy to discuss the project, localization structure, text volume, development stage, and testing workflow.

I am especially happy to collaborate with independent developers and small studios that want to make their games accessible to Turkish-speaking players.

Feel free to reach out through the contact method by which this portfolio was shared.
